Temples are where a huge crowd congregates. In Dehradun, Sai Mandir Rajpur is one such hot spot with thousands of devotees coming on Thursdays. Much to the horror of most environmentalists, prasad is given in plastic carrybags. Thousands of them are used on Thursdays and other pooja days.

As a part of our campaign against plastic pollution, CFGD chose the most popular temple in town, which is also a tourist spot. We lobbied with the trustees and succeeded. On 20 th April 2010, they decided to go green and ban the use of plastic carrybags in and around the temple. Now all the prasad is given in synthetic cloth carry bags, commonly referred to as Chinese Bags.
