This PIL was necessitated by the plans of the District Administration to acquire Ranger's College Ground for "development', which would mean buildings coming up in the ground and trees along the perimeter being felled. The District Administration had locked up the two gates of the ground and put up a notice of acquisition.

Filed on 12th Oct 2011 this PIL requested:
  1. The nature of the ground for use as a playground not be changed by either the FRI or DM.
  2. That the locks put by the DM on gates of the ground be removed.

The honourable court ordered an immediate removal of locks and maintainence of status quo as existed before the locks were put. FRI and DM Dehra Dun are the two respondents in this case.

Counter affidavit filed by DM on 18th Nov. We are in the process of filing our reply.
