Speaking to member of CFGD, Dr Joshi said that he was happy to see so many educated people coming forwards to save the environment. He said that until the educated people come forwards and set an example of good citizen behaviors, government efforts alone cannot bear any fruit. He called for a state wide campaign ban the plastic carry bags saying that they not only clog the drains but also the fields of farmers and efforts by CFGD to sensitize the shop keepers against giving plastic carry bags, while appreciable as an example, needs to go much further than that to be effective.

Dr Nitin Pandey, member of CFGD, described Citizens For Green Doon as a movement of ordinary people of Dehra Dun to protect the environment of the Doon Valley. He said that in a short span of one and a half years, the movement has come a long way from 5 members to over 3000 members. He said that even this is not enough and efforts should be made to reach out to more people. He said that the group has started to work in earnest to prepare for the 2nd Annual Dehra Dun Tree Festival which will be held on 14th November in the grounds of St. Joseph's Academy.
