On the occasion of World Environment Day on the 5th of June 2010, Citizens For Green Doon organized IDEAFEST at Gandhi Park. The aim of the event was to generate public interest in issues related to the environment and elicit ideas about what the common man can do to conserve the environment.

Members had earlier collected old sheets of printed paper which were blank on one side. People passing by were asked to use these recycled sheets of paper to pen down their ideas about what they could do to save the earth from environmental degradation. These idea sheets were then pinned up on the IDEAFEST Wall so that the general public could get tips on how to live a more environmental friendly life. Students, housewives, businessmen, all eagerly participated in this event and gave various ideas, ranging from promoting use of CFLs to introduction of paper-less offices.

Sharing this opinion is Animesh, who further states that public transport should be used as much as possible so as to save fuel. Nikhil Sethi feels that the introduction of CNG vehicles and increasing the number of parks in the city will go a long way in reducing pollution. Another participant, Anil Kumar believes that planting trees is the greatest thing one can do and that each tree is equivalent to a hundred sons. Walking and using bicycles for small distances will serve the dual purpose of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and saving the environment, opine Riddhima and Sahana Mukhopadhyay of E.C. Road. Mitali Khanduri wrote – “Mom is precious, Mom is great! Is Mother Earth a bit less than our own Mom? NO! So please respect Mother Earth and save her!”
