A delegation from Citizens For Green Doon on Wednesday handed over a protest note to DM Dehra Dun through his PA, to protest against the planned felling of 15 green trees by the administration for widening of crossings under JNNURRM. A delegation of CFGD reached the DM's office on Wed afternoon and on not finding him there, sat on a symbolic dharna outside his office and later handed over the memorandum to his PA.

According to Dr Nitin Pandey, the administration was preparing to fell trees at Tehsil Chowk, Kargi Chowk, Shasthradara Chowk and St. Judes road. He said that all the trees involved are healthy and green and except of one Mango tree at Kargi Chowk, all the trees can be transplanted. He also said that CFGD had conducted a survey of the crossings along with the then Executive Engineer of PWD, Mr. Dayanand and both agreed to transplant trees. He said that it is a mystery, why with a change of guard, the policies have also changed. He said that the group would vehemently oppose any move by the administration to fell these trees.
