Citizens For Green Doon on Tuesday sent aid worth over Rs 60,000/- to victims of the recent disaster in Uttarakhand. Over 370 liters of milk cartons, 300 kgs of wheat, 200 kgs of rice, pulses and 50 woolen blankets and warm clothes, besides soaps, candles, cooking oil and biscuits were handed over to representatives of Mera Pahad, a Delhi organization working in the hills, for distribution in various places in Uttarakhand including Tehri Dam submersion Area, Almora and Munsiyari.

A team from Mera Pahad had previously toured the affected areas and compiled a list of families who need support and their requirements. The aid items will now be packed into parcels bearing the individual names and delivered in a few days time. Speaking on the occasion Dr Nitin Pandey, member of CFGD, said that the recent disasters had been unprecedented and wracked untold misery on people of the state. He said that all citizens of Uttarakhand must come forward to support the victims of the disaster and he was happy that members of CFGD came forwards and lent their support to the collection drive.

Among those present on the occasion were Mrs. Venu Dhingra, Himanshu Arora, Sonia Pandey and Anish Lal.
